Changing PHP versions is quite easier to switch between current and latest versions. PHP update is performed so as to confirm that you are using a fully compatible version and it is ensured regularly for security vulnerabilities.

There are two ways for changing PHP version :

  • Select PHP version is used to change the PHP version of the whole cPanel including websites, cron jobs and command line. This feature does not have the ability to set version of PHP for specific domain.
  • MultiPHP manager is used to manage PHP versions of individual websites including addon domains.

  1. Login to your cPanel and Scroll down to software section then click on Select PHP Version.

 2. In the listed domains, select the checkbox next to the required domain and in the dropdown list at the top right, select the PHP version that you need to change and click on Apply.

3. Now click on Set as current, your PHP version will be updated at this time.

If you need to change the PHP version of a particular domain under your cPanel, we suggest using Multi PHP Manager to use older version of PHP for the specific website, it can be done by:

1. Select the tab MultiPHP Manager below software section.

2. From the listed domains select the checkbox next to the needed domain and from the drop-down in top right end, select the PHP version that you need to change to, and click on Apply.

Note : “alt-php is the PHP version that allow the users to use application that requires outdated PHP versions and can be selected by “Select PHP version” feature in cPanel, and it cannot be applied by using “MultiPHP Manager”. Whereas,ea-phpcan be selected only by using “MultiPHP Manager” feature( example: alt-php44 is PHP version 4.4 and ea-php72 is the PHP version 7.2 ). In short, the feature in your cPanel > MultiPHP Manager will permit you to set a PHP version on a per-domain or per-folder basis for your account. The settings chosen within this area of the cPanel will override the version chosen in the ‘Select PHP Version’ area of your cPanel.
